Processes cheese is a relatively new product on the market. The manufacturing technology allows for many different flavouring and additives to be added.
The manufacture of processed cheese first started in Switzerland in 1911. In 1917 Kraft in the USA started manufacturing processed cheese. In the beginning processed cheese was produced only in blocks. The first spreadable version was produced in Germany in 1929.
